Robert Eligible for Olympic Selection
Robert is again eligible for Olympic selection after a successful appeal at the British Olympic Association (BOA).
Robert, 27, was banned for three months by the International Equestrian Federation last autumn after his top horse, Two Mills Showtime, tested positive for two different banned substances within the space of three months in 2005.
Though the suspension had since expired, Robert remained ineligible for selection for the Olympics. But at a meeting of the BOA appeals panel last week, Robert's eligibility for team GB was restored immediately.
The panel expressed its concerns that the two offences had occurred within such a short time, but noted neither was an attempt to affect the performance of Two Mills Showtime.

A Quiet Autumn planned.
Following a fairly quiet week after H.O.Y.S the entire stable block quickly filled up with young horses, sent to Robert to produce as he would now be at home for the next 3 months.
Amanda Derbyshire has also arrived at the yard to train and work. She is progressing well training with Robert and taking the younger horses to shows whilst Robert is not competing. Amanda has also been consistently placed on the older horses including Catania and Going to America.
When Catania arrived she'd had some bad experiences in the ring so the next 3 months of jumping 1.20's and 1.30's steadily with Amanda will help her get some confidence back.
On a whole all the horses have gone well, Cermit, owned by Robert himself, has jumped double clear each week gaining all his double clears for the Newcomer and Foxhunter 2nd rounds, he has also qualifying for the Blue Chip finals.
Hati's Diamond owned by Mrs K Cottam competed in his first shows and is now jumping clears at Newcomer level as is Shakira, owned by Johnsey Estates. |
